This band is one of my favorite Japanese bands of all time. Ego-Wrappin's music is mostly influenced by jazz, often featuring traditional jazz band instrumentation, including a double bass and horns section,however, their music also integrates many different styles such as rock, raggae, or pop. Here is an article on them. The mainstream Japanese music scene is full of crap such as Morning Musume, Arashi and NEWS which have no musical relevancy and are just money making schemes.
Ego Wrappin is part of a healthy Japanese indie scene and they are worth checking out.
