Now This is Real Hip Hop!

Man oh man! These guys are so good. This is underground hip hip at its best. If you like Common, Mos Def, The Roots, et. al. then you will like Surreal and the Sound Providers.

With the crap that is out there such as Soldier Boy, the "You're a Jerk" kids (they are horrible, they bit off the style of the Pack, "Got My Vans On"). I thought that hip hop was dead.

Surreal and the Sound Providers single-handedly resurrected hip hop with their album "True Indeed". The song consists mostly of jazz samples and has a real nice 60's-70's feel. The music is very minimalist and is not over the top with its sound so even though you don't like hip hip if you like jazz you will like this group. The lyrics focus on moving forward in life and bettering yourself. The theme and message of the music is positive.

My personal recommendations are:
Autumns Evening Breeze
The Field
Push On
